When your new bull arrives at your place

WHEN YOUR NEW BULL ARRIVES AT YOUR PLACE

Always have a welcoming party in the form of a few cows or steers - never other bulls - to greet your new bull on arrival. Leave the bull yarded with the welcoming mob over night. Ensure there is plenty of hay and water available. All of this will help the new bull settle into your place more easily.

Our Bulls are sold in good working condition but as they are young and still growing it is important that you ensure their nutritional needs are met. Young bulls particularly should only be in with cows for a period of 6 weeks. Never let a young bull drop below condition score 2. Take them out of the cows, look after them and see that their nutritional needs are met. You will be rewarded, hopefully, with a longer bull working life for having taken this extra care.

Check the bulls regularly when they first go out with the cows to ensure they are working satisfactory as the majority of problems happen in the early stages of joining.

After joining, put the bull in the bull paddock, administer any treatment required and allow him to freshen up for next seasons joining. Never ever let your bulls get too fat. Fit athletic bulls have a longer working life then over fat bulls.
